THE GUARDIAN | LIPSTICK AND LOSS
ILLUSTRATION
I was commissioned by The Guardian to create a set of illustrations for the feature “Lipstick and loss: the beauty fans fighting for their favourite discontinued products.” The article was published in both the Saturday G2 print edition and its online version, where it continues to be available.
Developed in collaboration with writer Anna Hart and art director Sarah Habershon, the feature was supported by a series of product-focused illustrations I was commissioned to create, depicting discontinued or cult-status beauty items referenced throughout the article. These included Suqqu Cream Foundation, The Body Shop Vanilla Perfume Oil, Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in Rose Sorbet, Clinique Superlast Cream Lipstick in Nude Bloom, and Ralph Lauren Monogram Cologne, a rare vintage fragrance sought by collectors.
The illustrations served as the visual anchor for the narrative, giving readers an immediate connection to the products discussed in the feature. Published across The Guardian’s extensive digital platforms and high-circulation weekend print edition, the commission gained wide visibility within one of the UK’s most respected and internationally recognised news publications.
