MIXER DE MEDIOS | HABANA FLOW CR 70 2ª PUERTA
PRODUCTION | CAMERA | PHOTOGRAPHY | ART DIRECTION
I had the incredible experience of immersing myself in the Cuban underground culture as part of the production and filming team for Habana Flou, Calle Real 70 2a Puerta, a documentary exploring the Cuban underground hip-hop movement and its efforts to open a second door toward social and political change.
The documentary, produced by Mixer de Medios and directed by Txarli de la Rubia, explores this movement through the musical collectives and secret studios of Havana, featuring the rhymes of Los Aldeanos, Papa Humbertico, Randy Acosta, Escuadrón Patriota, Silvito El Libre, Danay Suárez, and others.
Working within this creative environment, I supported the production while developing a personal visual study of Havana through 35mm film. This series of experimental photographs documents the energy, fragility, and optimism of the people and places at the heart of the movement, offering an intimate counterpoint to the documentary’s narrative.
The documentary Habana Flow, Calle Real 70 2a Puerta was released alongside the soundtrack album with the same title.
